What outdoor camp gives a child

Every WEA camp is experiential and educational, focused on confidence, teamwork and real outdoor skills in a safe and supportive environment.

R.01

Sunshine

Regular time outside supports vitamin D, healthy sleep, mood and energy. Our camps keep kids in the fresh air all day.

R.02

Exercise

Hiking, canoeing, archery, fire-building and running games keep children moving for far more than the recommended hour a day.

R.03

Executive function

Kids plan, prioritize, solve problems and invent their own games, with unstructured time built in on purpose.

R.04

Socialization

Teamwork and friendship happen naturally in small groups, away from screens and highly structured settings.

R.05

Appreciation of nature

Forest, soil, streams and ocean: experiences that build a lifelong respect for the natural world.

New to the Island, or new to the outdoors?

Our adult programs exist for exactly that. Join a day trip, a weekend program or an evening course before committing to a multi-day expedition: hike the Juan de Fuca Trail, winter camp in Strathcona Park, ski at Mount Washington, kayak in Desolation Sound, or learn tarp setup and survival skills in Saanich. WEA runs programs in Victoria, Sooke, Duncan, Nanaimo, the Comox Valley, Campbell River, Tofino, Port Renfrew, Woss and more.
